To expedite your check-in process, we need to receive your pre-registration prior to your procedure. It is important for you to follow these guidelines before surgery to prevent delay or cancellations.
Food and Drink
Do not eat anything after midnight the night before your procedure. This includes candy, gum, mints and chewing tobacco. You may have a small amount (20 ounces or less) of clear liquids up to two hours prior to your arrival time to the Surgery Center. Clear liquids include water, Gatorade, Pedialyte, fruit juices without pulp, such as apple or cranberry juice, carbonated drinks, black tea (NON-herbal tea) or coffee without milk or cream.
Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before your arrival.
Smoking/Tobacco
Do not smoke tobacco, use electronic cigarettes or vape, or chew tobacco after midnight the night prior to your surgery.
Preoperative Medications:
Some medications should be taken and others should not. Your surgeon should discuss with you the medications that should be stopped prior to your surgery. The pre-op nurse will instruct you on which medications you should take the day of your procedure.
***If you take insulin, blood thinners or weight loss/diet pills, please ask your physician for specific instructions regarding these medications prior to surgery***
Makeup, Nail Polish, Jewelry (including body jewelry)
Please remove all these items before surgery.
Clothing
Wear loose, casual, comfortable clothing to fit over dressings.
Valuables
Please leave valuables at home.
Notify The Center & Your Surgeon If:
- You have an elevated temperature, cough, cold, vomiting or diarrhea between your last visit to the surgeon and the day of your surgery.
- You suspect you may be pregnant.
- You are taking: diet pills, aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners, or certain herbal medicines. You may need to stop taking these 1-2 weeks before your surgery. You can discuss this with your surgeon.
What You Need The Day Of The Surgery:
- Driver: You must have a responsible adult that is at least 19 years of age or older to drive you home after your procedure. You will not be allowed to drive yourself home if you receive any type of anesthesia. Contact your physician if you have any questions or concerns.
- Please add under Interpreter: If you need assistance arranging for an interpreter, please contact the Scheduling department (402)-758-5120, Option 3 as soon as possible.
- Bring your insurance card, photo ID, ride home and caregiver phone numbers, Medicare or medical assistance information, and any form of financial payment you may have been contacted about.
